60+ Refreshment University

Girne University 60+ Refreshment University

Girne University 60+ Refreshment University is the first and only program of its kind in Cyprus, created as part of the university’s community service mission. It is designed for individuals aged 60 and above, aiming to promote active aging, improve quality of life, and foster social inclusion through continuous education, creativity, and community engagement.

The program is free of charge for all participants, reflecting the university’s commitment to accessibility and equality in lifelong learning. Moreover, the courses and seminars are conducted on a voluntary basis by faculty members and experts who generously share their knowledge and experience.

In addition to educational activities, participants are actively engaged in social responsibility projects, extending support to other organizations and community initiatives. This spirit of collaboration not only enriches the participants’ own experiences but also strengthens solidarity within society.

Through a wide range of courses, seminars, and workshops, participants explore diverse subjects such as literature, history, health, digital literacy, arts, and cultural studies. Beyond academic learning, the program organizes social, cultural, and intergenerational activities that reinforce community bonds and encourage self-expression.

The 60+ Refreshment University also supports research and public awareness projects on aging, well-being, and sustainability, contributing to both academic knowledge and social development. By combining education, culture, social participation, and community service, it serves as a pioneering model for empowering older adults and showcasing the value of lifelong learning.
