Education for Sustainability
At the University of Kyrenia, education is the engine of our sustainability work. We bring the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into teaching and learning through credit-bearing modules, practical workshops, intergenerational learning and community-facing activities.
Our approach
- Curriculum integration – courses and seminars that connect theory to local needs. For programme and module details, please visit the relevant faculty curriculum pages on the University of Kyrenia website.
- Lifelong learning (GÜSEM) – short, goal-oriented programmes designed around community needs and professional upskilling. Learn more: https://gusem.kyrenia.edu.tr/?lang=en
- Skills for impact – hands-on sessions that build employability, problem-solving and practical capability.
- Open participation – wherever possible, activities are bilingual and designed to welcome staff, students and community members.
How we work
- We collaborate with faculties to design SDG-aligned sessions that are practical and locally relevant.
- We publish educational activities on the Events pages with SDG tags and links to posters or short summaries.
- We encourage student involvement through projects, short talks and demonstrations.
- Our staff receive regular sustainability training so practice stays current and consistent across the university.
